THE BRIEF

Arrange an annual three-night incentive trip with a difference for 160 guests. The client had already experienced trips to destinations such as Monte Carlo, Rome, Marrakech and Barcelona, but this year it was time for somewhere out of the ordinary. It also had to be cold. We knew exactly where to go.

Day one

On arrival into Iceland, as the guests immersed themselves in the intriguing rocky landscapes, it was straight to the famous Blue Lagoon for a spectacular geothermal spa experience to begin the trip. Located in a beautiful lava field, the blue lagoon allows guests to enjoy the radiant powers of geothermal sea water. After an exclusive VIP welcome through the dedicated entrance, guests were greeted with fluffy white robes and towels. Once ready, they entered the milky blue water and were welcomed with a Champagne reception.

With the water waiters keeping the drinks flowing, guests were able to enjoy the floating spa beds for a relaxing treatment and bath at leisure in the tranquil warm water. After a couple of hours in the water, it was a quick outfit change and straight through to the LAVA restaurant for a delicious two course lunch serving local Icelandic cuisine. Built into a stunning lava cliff overlooking the blue lagoon, it was the perfect location for lunch to complete the experience. After a morning of relaxation, it was time to head to the centre of Reykjavik for a private check in at the Fosshotel where the group would be staying for the next two nights. With rooms overlooking the stunning south west coast, Fosshotel is only a stone’s throw from the colourful charming city centre. After a short stroll to Downtown Reykjavik, a three-course dinner was enjoyed at the trendy Eiriksson Brasserie. Offering a delicious European menu with an Italian twist, fantastic wines and a great ambiance, the night ended on a high.

Day two

Day two began with a convoy of Super jeeps arriving to the Fosshotel to collect the group for an unforgettable day exploring the Golden Circle. With fantastic, knowledgeable guides on board, the group were buckled in and ready for an adrenaline filled journey to Gullfoss Waterfall. As the group arrived, it was straight to the highest viewing point to admire the cascading waterfall in all its beauty. The sound of the crashing water, whilst sipping on a bubbly hot chocolate was just what the group needed! As the journey continued, it was back to the super jeeps for an exhilarating off-road journey to Haukadalur, one of Iceland’s most famous historical sites known for its abundance of Geysirs and hot springs. As the group jumped out of the jeeps, the Geysirs were spontaneously erupting around them. After a few snapshots, it was time for a well-deserved lunch at Hotel Geysir, right on the doorstep of the geothermal region! Now, back to the super jeeps for an exciting Arctic adventure to the glacier where the fleet of colourful snowmobiles awaited the group on the bright white ice for them to speed off and have some fun.

As daylight faded into night, it was straight from the glacier to Fjorubordid for a delicious feast. A rustic seaside restaurant specialising in langoustines! Once the guests had indulged in a delicious dinner, had drunk some very large beers and had listened to the sounds of the local musicians, it was time to transfer back to Reykjavik.

Day three

What better way to begin the final day in Reykjavik than a 2-seater buggy escapade along the foothills of Esja Mountain. Prepare to get wet whilst taking in the breath taking views alongside! The group whizzed through the rivers and streams and into the mountainous landscape before stopping for a coffee and pastry. After switching drivers and accelerating back to the base, it was time for a farewell lunch. Bryggjan Brughuss, the first independent microbrewery in Iceland, welcomed the group with an exciting private tour of the brewery followed by a sumptuous lunch. Accompanied with a selection of beers brewed onsite whilst overlooking the harbour, the retro mixed with historical vibe was a great setting to relax in before departing back to London.
